About Chhattisgarh
- Chhattisgarh is a landlocked state in South East India. It is the ninth largest state by area, and with a population of roughly 30 million.
- Formerly a part of Madhya Pradesh, it was granted statehood on 1 November 2000 with Raipur as the designated state capital.
- Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest-developing states in India.

About Raipur
- Raipur is the capital city of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It was a part of Madhya Pradesh before the state of Chhattisgarh was formed on 1 November 2000.
- It is a major commercial hub for trade and commerce in the region. It has exponential industrial growth and has become a major business hub in Central India.
- It has been ranked as India's 6th cleanest city as per the Swachh Survekshan for the year 2021.
- Raipur is ranked 7th in the Ease of Living Index 2019 and 7th in the Municipal Performance Index 2020, both by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
- It is among the biggest producers of steel and iron in the country. There are about 200 steel rolling mills, 195 sponge iron plants, at least 6 steel plants, 60 plywood factories, 35 ferro-alloy plants and 500 agro-industries in the city.
- In addition, Raipur also has over 800 rice milling plants. Mahanadi and Kharun are the major rivers of Raipur district.
How to Reach Raipur
By Air
If you want to reach Raipur by air, you can fly to the Swami Vivekananda International Airport. This airport is located 15 km from the city of Raipur.
By Road
If you reside in Chattisgarh, then you can reach Raipur either by car, or local transport. Taxis, buses, and cars are easily accessible from any location to travel between the tourist destinations.
By Rail
There are multiple ways you can reach Raipur. Raipur Railway Station is Raipur’s main railway station and serves Raipur and its surrounding areas. It is one of India’s oldest and busiest railway stations.

Chitrakote Falls
The Chitrakote Falls is a natural waterfall on the Indravati River, located approximately 38 kilometres (24 mi) to the west of Jagdalpur, in Bastar district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
The height of the falls is about 29 metres (95 ft). It is the widest waterfall in India, reaching a width of nearly 300 metres (980 ft) during the monsoon season. Because of its width and its widespread horseshoe shape during the monsoon season, it is often called the "Niagara Falls of India".
Jatmai Temple
Out of all the tourist places near Raipur, the serene Jatmai Temple exhibits the ideal fusion of serenity, nature, gastronomy, and culture. The Jatmai temple is situated amidst lush nature 85 kilometres from Raipur. This granite-built temple, dedicated to Jatmai, has stunning murals adorning the entrance.
Purkhauti Muktangan
This garden, inaugurated by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, draws tourists and residents because of its bright splendour. This garden, among the top tourist attractions in Raipur, attempts to protect biocultural richness.
Swami Vivekanand Sarovar
The well-known Burha Thalab (ancient lake) is surrounded by a number of beautiful green palm trees, and various food stands outside serve good, sanitary street food.
Champaran
The Vallabh Sect’s founder, Sant Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, is thought to have been born in this village, making it both historically and religiously significant. Thus, it is a well-known Vaishnava Peeth.
Shahid Veer Narayan
Singh International Cricket Stadium
The fourth-largest cricket stadium in the world is Shahid Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur, which is 21 kilometres from the city’s centre. With a capacity of about 65,000 people, the stadium serves as a platform of international significance and is recognised for holding IPL (Indian Premier League) and Ranji Trophy matches. It is one of the best tourist places near Raipur.
Bhoramdeo Temple
Bhoramdeo Temple, or the 'Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh', carved on the rocky stones in the Nagar style is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated in the Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh, This temple was built in the period of 7th to 11th century A.D and is beautifully located amidst mountain ranges.
Gangrel Dam
It is a popular tourist spot of Dhamtari district about 15 km from Dhamtari and about 90 km from Raipur. Built across the Mahanadi River, the reservoir offers a lot of water sports, Virgin Islands and much more. Also known as Ravishankar Dam, during monsoons becomes a must visit place with picturesque island and enriched flora and fauna. State Tourism board has their own property for the tourists to stay.
Tirathgarh Waterfall
Chhattisgarh is famous for its waterfalls. One of these magnificent falls is the Tirathgarh Waterfall. The fall here splits into multiple falls, creating a stunning vista. The falls comes under the eco-tourism venture of the state tourism department as it enjoins the Kanger National Park.
